CASE MANAGERS AND STAFF
Case Managers
The case managers at Nelson Langer Engle serve as paralegals and much more. They coordinate each step in the legal process for our clients, ensuring that clients are kept abreast of their cases' progress and their medical bills.
G. Thomas Cunningham offers clients more than 20 years experience in the legal community. As Tom points out, "It is a tremendous sense of accomplishment and pride to know that my skills help obtain compensation for people harmed by the negligence of others." Early in his career, Tom served as a paralegal for an insurance personal injury defense law firm. Preferring to advocate for the victims of accidents instead of insurance companies, he joined Michael Nelson in 1987. A valued team player, Tom is respected for his attention to detail, familiarity with the Washington court systems and his knowledge of insurance claims procedures.
Tom received a Bachelor of Arts in History from Boise State University in 1977. His pastimes include a love of music and the Seattle Sonics and Mariners.
John Boone brings to the firm over 25 years' experience as a litigation paralegal in large and small Washington and California law firms. He specializes in disability insurance denial cases (ERISA), personal injury litigation and product liability. John was involved in the Washington and California asbestos litigations, the MGM Grand Hotel fire litigation, and the E. coli class action against Jack-in-the-Box. John loves playing softball and golf, and has been a Boy Scout leader for the past 25 years.
Of his work, John says, "It can take a lot of time and energy, but our clients need and deserve our best efforts in acquiring the compensation they're entitled to. Being part of a team working toward achieving that end is very rewarding."
Shawn Nyman is a Senior Litigation Paralegal, who has worked in law for 23 years, specializing in Personal Injury,
Canadian Cross Border Law, Workers Compensation, and Social Security claims. Shawn has hands on experience as a
lead paralegal in traumatic brain injury cases, motor vehicle collisions, wrongful death claims and catastrophic
personal injury claims. Shawn is respected for her rapport with clients, her attention to detail, and her proactive
approach to cases. Shawn is well seasoned in insurance law and litigation.
Shawn has volunteered for several years coordinating attorneys to help the homeless and less fortunate receive legal advice at no cost.
Office Manager and PIP Coordinator
Deanna Delisanti has been working in the legal industry for over 14 years. She started out as a records coordinator working on a class action lawsuit. Deanna takes a special interest in assisting our clients in understanding and getting the most out of their medical insurance benefits, and in helping coordinate payments to healthcare providers from insurers. She says, "I really appreciate the feedback and thanks I receive from clients for helping coordinate their Personal Injury Protection payments. It feels good to make the medical/legal process easier for our clients to understand."
Independent Consulting Nurses
Nelson Langer Engle contracts with qualified independent nurses to consult on the medical aspects of personal injury claims. The nurse consultants' responsibilities include interviewing clients and family members, reviewing medical records, pinpointing medical issues and discrepancies, conducting medical literature research, recommending clinical experts and expert witnesses, and attending defense medical examinations as our "watchdogs".
Support Staff
Nelson Langer Engle's support staff consists of three legal secretaries, an accounting manager, a medical records coordinator, and a receptionist. All are dedicated to assisting our attorneys and case managers/paralegals in handling your case as efficiently and sensitively as possible. We make a special effort to assist our clients in the process of obtaining payment for their medical treatment expenses through the appropriate insurance coverages and stacking of the same.
